![]() If there is a specific CG you like though, you can always view it in the gallery! It is nice to play a VN where your choices actually matter though for the ending you want to get. So compared to some other lewd adventures from Winged Cloud and Gamuzumi, this adventure is very tame. The worst you see is maybe the side of a breast. Though if you’ve ever played a VN, I’m sure you can figure out what the endings entailed.Īs for how sexy the game is, yes we’re talking about it. So it felt like I only got about 2/3rds of the game’s length on one route. Then as I unlocked the other two, they both went on for another 20-30 minutes each. The first one I got where I made everyone love me, just sort of ended abruptly. There’s a few sections where they are walking around town for example, but it doesn’t happen often. This made it feel even more fun for myself.īut as for the story being rushed, one second the team is training in a dungeon, then next thing you know, they’re at home eating dinner. If you don’t know those manga or anime, then I’m sorry. ![]() The game takes place in a very futuristic/fantasy setting. Though the story did feel a tiny bit rushed. But the silliness is that he wants to bring an end to how cliché it is. At one point you learn why everyone wants to be a Knight, and Mikage’s reasoning was a touch cliché. The story itself is very fun, with a few areas that get a bit serious. When Mikage wants to be a Knight, to defend the people, just like his father, he’s paired up with two ladies and his adventures begin! He meets his teammates, Arisa and Kaguya, in the most awkward way only to not have the chance to explain himself before they want to cut him in half! *Disclaimer: A code was provided to me by the publisher for the purposes of this review. It was then ported to consoles by Gamuzumi in October 2021! The soundtrack that is included is also worth mentioning as it is impressively done.Sakura Nova is a Visual Novel adventure, developed by Winged Cloud for PC in 2016. Japanese voice acting for the main characters is also provided in this game, allowing you to get a full experience that immerses you with these characters. Navigating the game or advancing dialog is easy to do thanks to the mouse clicks or pushing keys on your keyboard. Don’t expect something as deeply spaced out like Life is Strange.Īs a Visual Novel, it’s nice to see that Sakura Nova’s developers did not skimp on design as the UI is responsive and pretty much flawless to use. Although this sounds exciting, don’t be too invested as the game’s plot only really branches at around the 3rd act of the game. There are also multiple endings to be found for the game, making it interesting to backtrack and see how certain decisions could have affected the progression of events. In Sakura Nova, you’re getting a gaming experience that is bound to last for about six hours with the main storyline. ![]() This is nice to see as we feel like visual novels tend to shine when there’s an interesting plot that is able to advance when necessary. The banter between these characters is always interesting to see and the game doesn’t shy away from some over the top reactions to certain scenarios. Kaguya and Arisa are the two main points in Mikage’s love triangle and you meet them at the start of the game while you’re trying to get into a changing room to put on your new suit. ![]() So if you’re a fan of that series, you’ll likely enjoy what Sakura Nova has to offer. It definitely feels reminiscent of something like Sword Art Online. The way this academy is designed is quite interesting and left us wanting to see more of their world. However, the narrative can feel a tad bit predictable in Sakura Nova as it doesn’t exactly stray away from visual novel conventions. As the son of the realm’s strongest knight, it’s no wonder that girls like Kaguya and Arisa make their moves on him. Our main character is a good draw to the story of this game as Mikage manages to be a lead with an interesting background. Their clashing personalities and conniving attitudes makes for an interesting dynamic that keeps the game’s flow very satisfying. This anime-inspired visual novel is one that follows the lives of some aspiring young knights as they do what it takes to reach the top of their prestigious academy. When you’re a gamer looking for an entertaining new story that doesn’t demand too much in terms of mechanics, you can’t look past the appeal of a game like Sakura Nova.
